Kathryn had just kicked Chakotay out of her quarters. She was sure he had been trying to convince her to have this baby, her baby, their baby. She was too far along and the doctor had told her there was no longer an option. The child would be born, and its life would go on. Kathryn didn't know what she was going to do. There were many options. She could let Chakotay raise their child. She could give it up to another crewmember to raise. Hell she could raise it herself, but being the Captain this was an unlikely scenario.

The gods looked down from above. *She is missing the most obvious answer. She is ignoring the logical step. In doing so she will be denying this child its existence.*

Kathryn sat on the couch. She had missed the early stages of the pregnancy, and although she was aware of the fact that she was pregnant, she felt as if she had missed out on something. She did not feel as if she had bonded with the child she now carried, the child that was a part of her. *And a part of him*

The gods smiled. *She knows what she must do. She is halfway to the answer. She has taken the first step to finding the solution, and to the completion of her soul. The catastrophe can still be avoided.*

Kathryn went to bed. *Will he ever forgive me? Have I ruined our friendship forever?* She cried herself to a much needed sleep, a sleep of confusion, a sleep of despair, and a sleep of hope.
