Seven looked out the window and saw Voyager career over the Golden Gate bridge. She felt the apprehension as just moments later Voyager landed on the grounds of the Precidio.
She walked out of the mess hall and out the doors leaving Voyager quite possibly forever.
Kathryn Janeway made her speech and she watched as Chakotay dropped down to envelop Janeway's lips with his own.
Seven watched in slow motion as his hand went down to briefly caress the tiny swell to Janeway's abdomen.
It was at that moment that she knew she has lost the man she had never really had.
No matter what simulations she had run, or how well she thought she knew Chakotay: he was never really hers.
She watched statue still as Tom and B'Elanna brought little Miral to meet Admiral Paris for the first time and as Samantha Wildman introduced Naomi to her father for the first time in her life.
Harry Kim saw his parents for the first time in Seven years.
Kathryn Janeway went to give her condolences to Joe Carey's wife and sons whose father had left this world just weeks before.
Seven had nothing.
Seven had no one.
She had been so sure that things would work out between her and the Commander.
She processed the facts; she was more attractive than Kathryn Janeway; she was smarter then her former Captain; she was stronger than Janeway physically as well.
She walked up to the 'Command Couple' and roughly pushed Janeway away from Chakotay: she would have him.
Janeway stumbled and fell back as she was caught by Harry Kim.
Seven approached Chakotay as the words left his lips: "Kathryn, are you - "
He was cut off by Seven's lips approaching his. He struggled to get away from the Borg's grip: "Seven what the hell are you doing?"
"We are more compatible than you and Captain Janeway are. I demand she get rid of that child." She paused, "You are mine. If you review my holodeck simulations you will see that I am correct and that our relationship has a 97.3% chance of succeeding."
Chakotay huffed, "Seven you disgust me. Relationships are more than calculations and chances of succeeding: than probablities."
Chakotay pushed past Seven and went to Kathryn.
Seven turned to the Doctor, "I believe I was in error Doctor. Explain."
"You erred Seven." The Doctor sighed. "There is so much more to the Captain and Commander's relationship than what you deem to be their 'compatibility'."
Seven stared confused at the Doctor, "Explain."
The Doctor sighed. "The Captain and Commander were the best of friends before they progressed to a relationship we all knew was inevitable. They trust each other implicitely, they love each other," he paused, "The sexual tension between those two was so thick you could cut it with a knife."
She looked at him, "I don't understand."
"How do I explain this to you?" He paused, "Okay, you know how Tom and B'Elanna are right?"
Seven nodded, "So they are a couple that will not be separated by anything."
The doctor nodded.
"I have a question?"
The Doctor encouraged her to continue.
"A child normally comes after marriage does it not?"
The doctor chuckled, "Yes, normally Seven, but the only one authorized to perform weddings on Voyager was the Captain; and she could not very well perform her own ceremony."
"Then why the baby?"
The doctor sighed. "The Captain was unaware of how long it would take Voyager to get home and quite honestly, she felt her 'biologic clock' ticking."
"I don't understand."
"Her and Chakotay have been a committed couple for a while, and children were the next step, something they both wanted dearly."
Seven nodded, "I think I understand."
"You will only truly understand when you find your 'soul mate' Seven."
Seven nodded once in completion of the conversation and turned to leave. "Thank you doctor."
